Kinyatta E.
Kinyatta has been a member of the Mt. Pleasant Boys & Girls Club since she was six years old. At the age of 11 her family became homeless, and Kinyatta was left to struggle each day to find enough food, a quiet place to study, and a safe place to spend her after school hours. The Club was there for her during this difficult time and helped her work through the traumatic impact the uncertainty had on her life. Now Kinyatta has a much brighter future. She graduated Salutatorian from John Adams High School, and in the fall will head to Hiram College, with plenty of scholarships to pay her way. As a result of her perseverance, positive attitude, and the fact that she is a wonderful role model to our younger members, Kinyatta was named the 2011 Youth of the Year for Cleveland and placed second in the Ohio competition!
