Medical Mutual donates $30,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland

Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland has announced it has received a $30,000 donation from Medical Mutual of Ohio in support of the June 25 Race for Kids & Wellness Festival at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

Medical Mutual will be the title sponsor for the race, which is BGCC’s largest fundraiser.

“We are extremely grateful to Medical Mutual for its generous support of this event, which provides funding for our programs,” said Ron Soeder, BGCC’s president and CEO. “This truly helps those kids who need us most.  Medical Mutual is absolutely committed to our important mission.”

Race registration is now under way at www.clevekids.org.

Soeder said Richard Wallack, Vice President, Public Sector for Medical Mutual, has been instrumental in the growth and success of the race. Wallack is a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland’s Board of Directors and its co-treasurer.

All race registrants will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win two first-class, round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental United States, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and the Caribbean, courtesy of United Airlines. In addition, runners and walkers will get free admission to the zoo for the rest of the day as well as a T-shirt specially designed for the event by Cleveland’s Fresh Brewed Tees.

Cost is $30 for the 5k race and $20 for the 1-mile walk/fun run. There is also a special rate of $50 per family for the 1-mile walk/fun run.

Additional airline raffle tickets can be purchased for $10. A raffle ticket will also be awarded to anyone raising at least $50 on the official Race for Kids fundraising pages.  You can also purchase raffle tickets or set up your own fundraising page by visiting the www.clevekids.org website.

The airline ticket raffle will take place after the race. The winner need not be present.

The Clubs provide a safe place for children to learn and grow, to develop ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, to engage in life-enhancing programs and to create a culture of hope and opportunity.

BGCC’s mission is to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
