June 25 festival includes 5k race, zoo admission, airline ticket raffle

Registration is now under way for the June 25 Race for Kids and Wellness Festival, which will feature a 5-kilometer run at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland.

All race registrants will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win two first-class, round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental United States, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and the Caribbean, courtesy of United Airlines. In addition, runners and walkers will get free admission to the zoo for the rest of the day as well as a T-shirt specially designed for the event by Cleveland’s Fresh Brewed Tees.

Cost is $30 for the 5k race and $20 for the 1-mile walk/fun run. There is also a special rate of $50 per family for the 1-mile walk/fun run.

Additional airline raffle tickets can be purchased for $10. A raffle ticket will also be awarded to anyone raising at least $50 on the official Race for Kids fundraising pages. To register, purchase raffle tickets or set up your own fundraising page, visit www.clevekids.org.

The airline ticket raffle will take place after the race. The winner need not be present.

The race is the primary fundraising event for BGCC, which serves more than 8,000 youths each year at 14 locations in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland; a new Club is scheduled to open in Garfield Heights this summer. The Clubs provide a safe, fun place for youths and programming that includes arts, athletics, health and agriculture.

Medical Mutual is the title sponsor for this year’s race. Other sponsors are Bridgestone/Credit First National Association, Cleveland Clinic, Forest City Enterprises, United Airlines, The Lubrizol Corporation, Cliffs Natural Resources, Oswald Companies, Cleveland Indians, James P. Anderson, DDS, Molina Healthcare and Rolf Goffman Martin Lang.
